Sam Taylor is a poet and word-based artist and the author of two books of poems, Body of the World (Ausable/Copper Canyon) and Nude Descending an Empire (Pitt Poetry Series). His work most frequently explores themes of mysticism, sexuality, ecology, politics, suffering, and the mystery of the world. He has received the Amy Lowell Traveling Scholarship for American Poets Traveling Abroad, the Dobie Paisano Fellowship, the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Prize, the James Michener Fellowship, and residency awards from such places as Yaddo, Djerassi, and the Vermont Studio Center. Recent work has appeared in AGNI, the New Republic, Narrative Magazine, the Hudson Review, and Poetry Daily. Sam Taylor directs Wichita State's creative writing program.
