The Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program is a post-baccalaureate, entry-level graduate clinical program that prepares students to practice as audiologists in all clinical settings.

Graduate students complete their degree program according to academic requirements in effect at the time their plan of study is filed with the Graduate School. The AuD program requires a minimum of 106 credit hours, plus 3-9 hours of tool subjects. The courses and practicum experiences required may vary depending upon the educational background the student brings to the AuD program.

Practica (38 hours)

Enrollment in a clinical practicum course (CSD 835/886/997) is required each semester during the AuD program. A competency-based evaluation of the students' performance will be made at regular intervals throughout the clinical experience.

The fourth year of the AuD program involves a full-time residency in a hospital, clinical or other audiology practice environment. Enrollment is required, in consecutive semesters, for one calendar year (18 hours).

Prior to graduation, students must demonstrate clinical compentency and satisy the clinical clock hour requirements (minimum of 1820 hours) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) for the Clinical Certificate of Competence (CCC-A) during the program.

Advancement to candidacy is contingent upon the successful completion of a mentored research project and oral presentation during the third year of the program. Candidacy status is required prior to enrolling in the fourth-year residency practicum.
