Phenomenal Woman Award Application

This award recognizes women for their accomplishments and contributions to the WSU and Wichita community. Individuals are encouraged to nominate females who have made a difference in their lives. All nominations must be submitted electronically by using the online form below. Submissions must be in no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, March 2.

You may use this form as many times as needed to nominate women who are eligible for this award. Phenomenal Woman Nominees must be students or employees of Wichita State University (faculty, university support staff, and/or unclassified professional staff).

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will recognize the 2015 Award Recipients at the March 26 Phenomenal Women Reception at the Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom. Definitions of Classifications

Faculty
Individuals hired for teaching, research and service. Examples include: department chairs, professors, associate/assistant professors, instructors, etc.

University Support Staff
Individuals hired to support the University's mission of teaching, research, and service.  Examples include:  administrative assistants or specialists, accounting specialists, police officers, skilled trades (i.e. painters, plumbers, electricians, carpenters), general maintenance, and custodial supervisors/specialist, etc.

Unclassified Professional Staff
Individuals hired in non-teaching professional positions that manage university departments, or larger units, and who also support the university’s mission of teaching, research and service.  Examples include deans, associate and/or assistant deans, directors, associate/assistant directors, counselors, academic advisors, executive administrators, research engineers, computer programmers/technicians, program coordinators, etc.

Student
Individuals who are a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

To be considered for the award the nominee must be:

  • A woman who has distinguished herself in academic work, career, leadership, public service, or any combination thereof.
  • A woman who has contributed to the personal growth and success of others, especially women, through education, research, public or volunteer service above and beyond her expected job responsibilities.
  • A woman whose achievements create positive social change, increase equality for all, and build community through service.
  • A woman that exemplifies service, and giving to the WSU community, a leader, involved in at least one student groups.
