Safe Zone Training

Safe Zone LGBTQ Training

The Office of Human Resources and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion invite you to Safe Zone training. This training is a dynamic, interactive session that includes activities and discussion around:

  • Inclusive language;
  • The process of coming out;
  • The power of the straight ally;
  • Understanding sexual identity;
  • How to respond to homophobic / transphobic incidents;
  • Where to go for help and much more

The goal of Safe Zone training is to provide a welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and ally (LGBTQA) persons. Safe Zone establishes an identifiable network of supportive people who can provide support, information and a safe place for LGBTQA persons within the WSU campus community. By attending this training, individuals are committed to being a Safe Zone Ally in which bigotry and discrimination, specifically regarding LGBTQA persons, are not tolerated.

If you would like a separate training outside of the regular scheduled trainings, our trainers will come out and train student groups, departments, and community members. Please fill out our training request form.
