Safe Zone LGBTQ Training

The Offices of Diversity and Inclusion, Human Resources and Counseling and Testing invite you to Safe Zone LGBTQ Training. This training is a dynamic, interactive session that includes activities and discussion around:

  • Inclusive language
  • The process of coming out
  • The power of the straight ally
  • Understanding sexual identity
  • How to respond to homophobic incidents
  • Resources and much more!

The goal of Safe Zone LGBTQ Training is to educate as well as create and sustain a welcoming and inclusive environment for the LGBTQ campus community. This training establishes an identifiable network of supportive people who can provide support, information and a safe place for LGBTQ persons within the Wichita State community. By attending this training, individuals are committed to being a Safe Zone Ally in which bigotry and discrimination, specifically regarding LGBTQ persons, are not tolerated.

If you would like a separate training outside of the regularly scheduled training(s), our trainers will come out and train student organizations, departments and community members. Please fill out our training request form by clicking here.

For more information, please contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at (316) 978-3034.
