Introduction to EECS Undergraduate Education

WSU's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) offers courses of study leading to the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCE), Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), and the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) programs. All three programs (BSCE, BSCS, and BSEE) are accredited by ABET, http://www.abet.org. BSCE and BSEE programs are accredited by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission and BSCS program is accredited by the ABET Computing Accreditation Commission. EECS department also offers a Minor in Computer Science. EECS Program Educational Objectives can be found under the Department menu (or by following this link).

EECS Fall 2015 (only) Advising Process

All freshmen and sophomore students are required to see the Student Academic Success Adviser Karen Wright.  Through August 21, she is seeing these students on a walk-in basis from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.  These students should come to JB 249.  Undergraduate coordinators, Dr. Kiyun Han (EE) and Mr. Keenan Jackson (CE and CS), are also seeing some of these students.

Undergraduate coordinators. Dr. Kiyun Han (EE) and Mr. Keenan Jackson (CE and CS) are now seeing new transfer students and campus visitors.  They are also responding to emails and phone calls for those who wish to inquire about a second degree, wishing to return to school and those who want knowledge to guide their kids towards academia.

Dr. Preethika Kumar is handling senior checks.  Seniors who have taken EE 585 but have not done their senior check should submit their application for degree form and complete their senior check ASAP.  Her office in JB 254.  Those students who complete a senior review check are no longer required to meet with an advisor for future advising, but they have the option of electing to continue doing so.

Juniors and seniors are not required to meet with an advisor for fall advising, but may do so if they want to be advised.   These students should contact their faculty advisor directly to schedule an advising appointment.  They will pick up their advising folders in JB 249 and will need their myWSU ID to obtain their folder.

After having met with their adviser, students requiring additional help may meet with the appropriate undergraduate advisor, Dr. Kiyun Han (EE) or Mr. Keenan Jackson (CE and CS), or the Student Academic Success Adviser Karen Wright.

If a student is unsure whom to see, they should call (978-3156) or visit (JB 249) the department office.
