Student Organizations

The Elliott School of Communication is affiliated with a number of student-led organizations. From live weekly television broadcasts to public relatons, there are plenty of ways to get involved, and also, to get plenty of valuable résumé-building experience. Whatever your communication interests are, there's a group for you.

 

JPEG Image PRSSA - The Public Relations Student Society of America is the leading organization for students interested in public relations and communications. PRSSA seeks to advance the field of PR by educating students and helping them gain practice and understanding of the world of public relations. PRSSA does this through lectures, panels and workshops, as well as through conversation with other students.
JPEGImage Lambda Pi Eta - LPH is the National Communication Association' s official honors society, with active chapters all over the world. Wichita State's Zeta Eta chapter is committed to recognizing academic excellence, promoting professional development, and acting as ambassadors for the Elliott School of Communication. Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the communication discipline.
JPEG Image Studio B - Live TV. No starting over. No chance to fix it before it gets to the audience. Studio B is a live news broadcast for students. It prepares students for the real-world experience of news reporting, anchoring, producing and photojournalism. Every Friday at noon on Wichita State University Ch. 13, students take their places on the set and put their best work on the air.
PNG Image The Sunflower - The Sunflower is Wichita State's student-run news source. Since 1895, The Sunflower has been producing award-winning news, editorials, photography three times a week. The Sunflower is always on the hunt for new reporters, editors and photographers. Not only is writing or shooting for the sunflower a great résumé builder, they'll pay you for it, too.
JPEG Image Debate - The Wichita State University Debate team competes annually in tournaments nationwide with a proven track record of success, including appearances in the National Debate Tournament and CEDA Nationals.
