Amy DeVault is instructor of digital media. Since joining The Elliott School, she has taught Comm 305 Visual Technologies, Comm 510 Editing for Print, Comm 301 Writing for the Mass Audience and Comm 472 Senior Portfolio. She came to WSU after five years as a visual journalist at The Wichita Eagle, where she designed the front page for more than a year. She won an Award of Excellence from the Society for News Design for the BTK extra edition and helped The Eagle win numerous design awards from the Kansas Press Association, including Best Front Page.

After earning her bachelor’s degree, Amy taught high school journalism for three years and remains active in scholastic journalism, teaching at national high school conventions and summer workshops. She has presented papers in the history division at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication annual convention.

Away from work, Amy enjoys knitting, music and photography. She is married to Adam DeVault, the band director at Derby High School, and they have two sons.
