Engineering Advising Process

Every engineering student will meet with a college representative each semester to go over their degree plan and get permission to enroll.

Are you a brand new engineering student? You'll need a Shocker Connection appointment. During this appointment, you will meet with your department chair or program coordinator to learn more about the program, discuss career options, and choose first semester coursework.

Please call us at 978-3420 to get that appointment setup. When you come, use this step-by-step Shocker Connection Guide to help you enroll. Also be sure to read the Engineering Student Handbook (PDF).

Current engineering students will meet with a registration professional each semester and a faculty adviser once a year

Each semester, schedule an appointment with a registration professional to:

  • Plan your upcoming semester schedule
  • Get cleared to enroll
  • Register in classes

Contact Engineering Student Records at (316) 978-3420 or engineering.records@wichita.edu to schedule a registration appointment.

Once a year, schedule an appointment with a faculty adviser to discuss:

  • Career plans
  • Technical electives
  • Engineer of 2020
  • Minors
  • Cooperative education

Find your faculty adviser using myWSU. Email your adviser to make an appointment. Contact them at least one week in advance.

Be prepared for your advising session by:

Seniors within 2 semesters of graduation must file an online Application for Degree (AFD) through myWSU. Students will receive instructions to schedule an appointment with their department chair or program coordinator for a mandatory Senior Check appointment. The Senior Check replaces regular semester advising.
