The College of Engineering at Wichita State affords excellent career preparation for future engineers.

In fact, Wichita State is an excellent career location for students because it is in the City of Wichita - Kansas' largest business and industrial center. Wichita is situated within 50 miles of 40 percent of Kansas' industry and Wichita is one of the world's largest producers of aircraft through Airbus, Spirit Aerosystems, Inc., The Boeing Company, Cessna Aircraft Company, Learjet Incorporated, and Raytheon Aircraft Company, is known as the "Air Capital of the World." This impressive career base does more than demand a high level of engineering expertise, it also provides the hands-on experience essential for developing crucial engineering skills. Wichita State University's Office of Career Services provides career counseling, vocational assessment, job postings, resume critiques, practice interviews, resume referral, career fairs, on-campus interviews, and job search information and coaching. For students in the College of Engineering this means an average of 200 Engineering cooperative education placements per year with an average salary of $12 per hour. All services are free to WSU students. The College of Engineering also participates in the University's Cooperative Education program, which helps students find employment opportunities related to their academic areas of interest. Through this unique combination of classroom studies and work experience, students gain valuable career-related experience. Our nationally accredited programs provide a solid engineering foundation and the practical hands-on experiences to help you succeed in the engineering field. WSU's College of Engineering is recognized and respected both nationally and internationally. Students come from all over the world to Wichita State to study engineering.
