Chosen candidates will participate in developing Avionics Flight Software utilized in today's aerospace industry.  As part of this development activity, there will be exposure to various Software Engineering technologies and techniques as well as Web development technologies.  Candidates will work in a fast paced environment while collaborating closely with a team of engineers to design and implement project requirements.

 

About:

  • 20-30 hours/week (full time work may be available in the summer)
  • Availability for 1 calendar year
  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students

Duties:

  • Assist in design, development, implementation and support of applications and tools used in support flight testing of aircraft
  • Troubleshoot problems with existing applications, equations and displays
  • Test new or resived applications and provide a report of findings
  • Assist in creating user interfaces
  • Assist in providing software and hardware support for customized computer equipment and applications

Ideal Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of software engineering and related platform technologies (e.g. Apache, XML, JSP, JSF)
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies (e.g. HTML, CGI, SQL, Perl, JavaScript, Asp.net)
  • Basic knowledge of software change management, including versioning systems (e.g. CVS, Clearcase, TFS)
  • Basic knowledge of operations system environment (Unix, Linux, Windows Server, Tomcat, IIS)
  • Basic knowledge of relationship databases
  • Basic knowledge of at least one high level object-oriented language (ie. C programming language)
  • Resourceful in identifying roadblocks and looking for creative ways to overcome challenges,  and can maintain adherence to project deadlines
  • Able to communicate effecitvely with peers, supervision, BA professionals and managers, both orally and in writing
  • Team Palyer and have the ability to work with minimal supervision

Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a degree in an Engineering field or equivalent education
  • Experience in developing Web based applications is preferred
