First Year Success Program

Accelerate your success. Create your future. Engage in your college community.

ACE Engineering is a first year success program for freshman engineering majors that equips you with the skills, resources, and support to ace your first year at Wichita State. This unique opportunity is open to 100 incoming freshmen who desire to accelerate their success, create their future, and engage in their college community.

Membership Benefits

  • Advice and resources on how to get involved on in the College of Engineering and on campus.
  • Earn points, earn chances to win prizes! By participating in Success Series sessions, meeting with your coach, attending other ACE Engineering events, and completing other challenges throughout the year, you earn points. Collect as many points as you can throughout the year for chances to win awesome prizes!

 

Membership Requirements

ACE Engineering doesn't have strict membership requirements that make it difficult to join. More than anything else, we seek students who have a strong desire to be successful, and simply want some additional guidance, resources, or support along the way. If you can meet these four easy membership requirements, we encourage you to apply!

  • Must be a freshman engineering major in Fall 2018.
  • Commitment to the program for the 2018-2019 year.
  • Participation in the Success Series monthly sessions and other ACE Engineering events.*
  • Monthly one-on-one meetings with your ACE Engineering Coach (an upperclass engineering student) and/or Engineering Student Success Center staff.

*For the Fall 2018 semester, the Success Series sessions are tentatively scheduled for September 19, October 24, and November 14 from 8:00pm - 9:30pm. There will also be a kick-off party on Wednesday, August 29 at 8:00pm where members will get to meet each other and their coaches. Other important dates and program details will be shared once students have been selected for membership.

 

Selection Timeline

  • Submit your application below by Friday, July 13.
  • You will receive notification of your membership status by July 31.
  • If you are selected for membership, we will pair you with an ACE Engineering Coach. We will do our best to pair you with a coach in your major who shares a similar background and interests based on your application information.
  • Your coach will contact you in early to mid August (prior to the start of fall classes) to introduce him/herself.
  • All ACE Engineering members and coaches will attend a kick-off party on August 29.
