The Wichita State University College of Fine Arts Institute offers the Kodály Treble Choir Camp each summer, in partnership with the Kodály Music Educators of Kansas. WSU began offering the Kodály (pronounced "ko-dye") Camp in the summer of 2006 for young singers, ages 11-16. In this one-week camp, talented young singers have the opportunity to improve their vocal skills, learn Kodály choral techniques, and meet other student musicians. Campers study with Artistic Director Ms. Elaine Quilichini, work with teachers in the WSU Kodály Program and learn quality choral music, with a final concert at the end of the week.
Throughout the week, students are involved in choral rehearsals, musicianship and enrichment opportunities, as well as daily recreational activities. Teachers and directors are not responsible for pre-teaching music learned at camp. Special evening events are planned for resident campers and the emphasis is on fun all week long!
Students must be 10-16 years of age, have an unchanged singing voice, and have the recommendation of their teacher/choir director.
