Jeanne Vance Shoemaker is the Assistant Professor in Music Education and Placement Coordinator for Wichita State University. Originally from El Dorado, Kansas, she graduated from Wichita State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Music Education and a Bachelor of Music, with an emphasis in piano. Vance Shoemaker also earned from Wichita State University a Master of Music Education in 1977 and a Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision in 1998.
Jeanne spent 34 years in public schools as a vocal music teacher and secondary administrator. She was active in state ACDA and MENC organizations, conducted a church choir, taught private piano, and travelled to Europe with the Kansas Ambassadors of Music. After retiring from USD 259, Wichita, Kansas Public Schools, in 2008 Jeanne returned as a substitute teacher and substitute administrator as needed before accepting her current position at WSU in 2012. She is an avid golfer, a huge Shocker fan, sings in church choir and is active in Sigma Alpha Iota.
