David Brody has been teaching classical guitar at Wichita State University since 1986. His previous teaching experience includes teaching guitar at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas, and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He studied guitar, lute and vihuela with Hector Garcia at the University of New Mexico, and has done advanced work with Douglas Niedt of the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree at Adams State College, in Alamosa, Colorado, and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of New Mexico.
Brody has appeared as a guitarist and lutenist in several solo and chamber recitals at WSU and at area colleges, and is lutenist with the early music group the Nether Consort. He is active as a high school and middle school band clinician and festival adjudicator in Kansas and Oklahoma. He holds memberships in the Guitar Foundation of America, Lute Society of America, National Association for Music Education, Kansas Music Educators Association, Kansas Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu (a national bandmasters fraternity), and is a Friend of the Scottish Lute and Early Guitar Society.
Brody retired in 2013 from his position as Director of Bands at Wellington High School, in Wellington, Kansas, having taught concert, jazz, and marching band and music theory for 34 years in Kansas public schools.
