WSU 2013-2014 FAFSA Priority Date- March 1, 2013

The Office of Financial Aid would like to remind you of the March 1, 2013 priority date for filing the 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at Wichita State.  The priority date is quickly approaching- and you must file early to be given consideration for aid programs with limited funding.  Students can continue to file their FAFSA after the WSU priority date, but the opportunity to receive certain types of federal aid programs will be greatly reduced.  The application can be completed online at www.fafsa.gov

The WSU Office of Financial Aid highly recommends utilizing the IRS data retrieval process to directly transfer tax data reported to the IRS into the FAFSA. Utilizing the IRS retrieval tool will GREATLY simplify the financial aid verification process.  Using the IRS tool will reduce the likelihood of being selected for verification, and simplifies the process if selected, as no additional tax information will be required by the Office of Financial Aid.

The IRS data retrieval tool will become available mid February 2013 for the 2013-2014 FAFSA processing cycle.  Tax information should be available to transfer to the FAFSA within 10 business days from the time tax returns are submitted electronically.  File your 2012 taxes as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the IRS retrieval tool and in order to meet WSU’s FAFSA priority date of March 1st.

If you have additional questions, regarding this tool or the FAFSA application, please contact the WSU Office of Financial Aid for further assistance.
