The need for personal financial planning knowledge is greater than ever. As tax laws and investment options become more complex and as saving for education expenses and retirement becomes more difficult, the need for personal financial planning knowledge increases. WSU's courses and programs are helpful to those already working in the financial industry, those wishing to enter the industry and those interested in expanding their own knowledge of personal financial planning.

The Wichita State University Certificate in Financial Planning is a program designed to expand the knowledge of those employed in the financial service industry. The curriculum provides both a broad overview and detailed information that is the first step toward becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional. (In addition to education, you will also need to meet exam, experience, and ethics requirements).

If you would like to be a personal financial planner, in either a financial services company or your own practice, you may wish to obtain the internationally recognized CFP qualification issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc.

Compilation of WSU's six Certificate courses qualifies students to write the CFP exam. Courses may also qualify for CE credits for other professional designations.
