Barb Edwards Bowling Scholarship

Barb Edwards, of Newton, was just 39 when she passed away in 2003 of a brain tumor. During her student days at Wichita State University, Ms. Edward was a member of the 1986 national championship women’s team that won WSU’s fourth women’s national title in Houston, Texas. Her teammates viewed her greatest gifts as her loyalty to them and the Shocker Bowling Program. Ms. Edwards earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing in 1987 and established a real estate career in Newton. Several years after the death, the Shocker Bowling Program chose to honor her memory by establishing the Barb Edwards Bowling Scholarship. It is awarded annually to a student-athlete in the bowling program.
