Elaine and Virgil Brady Endowed Spirit Squad Scholarship

While attending the University of Wichita in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Elaine Brady brought excitement and enthusiasm to athletic events as a member of the university's spirit squad. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and graduated in 1961 with a degree in physical education. Her husband, Virgil, also graduated in 1961 with degrees in English language and literature, history and religion. Mr. Brady was a member of the Shocker basketball team and the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

Mr. Brady is retired from service as minister of the First Methodist Church in Lawrence. Mrs. Brady maintained her involvement with cheerleading as president of the Kansas chapter of the National Cheerleading Association (NCA). For many years, the Bradys have supported WSU's cheer and dance teams by providing funding for competitions and other expenses. In 2005, the Bradys established the Elaine and Virgil Brady Endowed Spirit Squad Scholarship.
