Histories of the men and women behind WSU's scholarships and fellowships

Jeanne Brooks Gart Endowed Scholarship

The works of Mrs. Jeanne Brooks Gart, a professional genealogist, have enabled many families to know their histories. Mrs. Gart spent many years of her career researching people’s lineages and writing publications on the same. One of her publications, “The Families of Joseph and Charlotte (Shelton)” earned her the Award of Excellence from the New England Historic Genealogical Society in 1999. Mrs. Gart received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English language and literature from University of Wichita in 1945, and proceeded to pursue a Master of Arts degree at Syracuse University. She was married to Murray Gart, who worked as an editor in Washington, D.C., before his passing in 2004.
