Nancy J. Foran Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Accounting

Dr. Nancy J. Foran earned her master’s in accounting from Wichita State University in 1967. She worked as an instructor for the Department of Economics followed by the School of Accountancy at WSU. After serving as a member of the professional faculty, she was promoted to associate professor in 1989. In 2000, Dr. Foran received the Bender of Twigs award for completing 25 years of service at WSU.
Dr. Foran, whose specific professional interest was taxation, received numerous awards for excellence in teaching. She published more than 40 scholarly articles on tax subjects, held leadership positions with regional and national professional organizations and was a devoted and valued instructor.
When Dr. Foran passed away in 2002, memorial funds from friends and family were combined with a significant gift from her husband, Michael, to create this scholarship. Dr. Michael Foran, a previous professor at WSU, believed the scholarship is a way for his wife to continue helping students that possess a sincere love for life and accounting, as she did.
