The Wichita Area Association of Realtors is an organization of realtors dedicated to enhancing the ability of its members to achieve success in an ethical and professional manner. They are devoted to providing vision, outreach, the advocacy of private property rights and a voice in the community.
As part of their purpose to better the field of real estate, in 1989, they established a scholarship to help specially selected real estate students. The scholarship was named for Nester R. Weigand Jr. and Hobart C. Brady. Mr. Weigand, president of J.P. Weigand & Sons Inc., has spent more than four decades in commercial, residential, industrial and investment real estate and holds a number of certifications. He is a past president of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), a director of NAR since 1978 and served as world president of the FIABCI (the International Real Estate Federation) from 1992-1993 and 2001-2002. Like Mr. Weigand, Hobart Brady also was a distinguished member of NAR. He served as president of the association and was named Realtor of the Year in 1948.
