Robert and Darlene Anderson are longtime supporters of Wichita State University and Shocker athletics. Advocates for the return of the WSU football program, they hope to revive the glory days of pep rallies, tailgating and homecoming. As well as filling the seats in Cessna Stadium, the Andersons believe a football program will entice a younger age group of students, boosting enrollment. As part of their campaign, they established the Wichita State University Football Endowed Scholarship in 1998 in hopes that alumni and other football advocates would follow their lead.
Dr. Robert Anderson is retired faculty from WSU, professor emeritus of education administration and supervision. Mrs. Anderson is a retired school nurse with the Wichita Public School District. She earned her master's in education from WSU in 1972. Two of their sons are former WSU football players, walk-ons during the 1970s, and have football scholarships established in their honor.
