Jennifer M. Kassebaum joined the Vice President and General Counsel’s Office in September 2010. Her prior legal experience includes serving in the General Counsel’s Office at Kansas State University, from 1992 to 2001, and on a contractual basis with that office from 2005-2010. Ms. Kassebaum has significant experience with faculty and employee grievances and litigation in higher education. She has tried cases in state and federal courts, and has briefed and argued cases before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Kansas Supreme Court, and the Kansas Court of Appeals.
Ms. Kassebaum earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas in 1985, where she was also honored as a 1985 KU Hilltopper. She received her Juris Doctorate in 1988 from the University of Kansas School of Law. Ms. Kassebaum is admitted to practice in Kansas, and is a member of the bar for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Kassebaum served as a member of the Kansas Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights from July 2008 to June 2014. She is an active volunteer in her community.
Ms. Kassebaum and her husband, Bill, have two daughters.
