How to Apply for Graduate Admission – US Citizens and Permanent Residents

Applicants for Fall 2017, follow the instructions below.  Applicants for Spring 2018 and future terms, please click here.  

STEP 1 - Determine if you will be Degree-Bound or Non-Degree Bound

STEP 2 – View Our Deadlines and Program Information 

STEP 3 – Apply Online and Pay the Application Fee by Credit Card

  • The non-refundable application fee is $50
  • If you are a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, you may qualify for an application fee waiver.  Please contact our office at 316-978-3095, option 2, to find out about the waiver for McNair Scholars.

STEP 4 – Obtain Official Transcripts

  • We require official transcripts from ALL schools you attended following completion of your secondary (high school) education.  This includes institutes, community colleges, colleges, universities, etc. 
  • To be considered for admission, students must have a Bachelor's degree from a Regionally-accredited institution in the US, or from a similarly recognized foreign institution.
  • WSU Transcripts do NOT need to be requested - we will access your WSU work, as well as any work already transferred to WSU and a part of your official record.  

STEP 5 – If you are a Permanent Resident (Green Card holder):

  • obtain a certified true copy of your permanent resident card, if this document is not already on file at Wichita State University. 
  • Please mail or bring the certified true copy to the Graduate School Office.  Use the mailing address found on the Official Transcripts page.

STEP 6 – Upload Your Documents

  • Make sure to read and follow the directions closely to ensure we are able to process your materials in a timely manner.

STEP 7 – Send Your Official Test Scores

  • If you uploaded your test scores, don’t forget that you must still have your official test scores sent to us directly from the examination company. (create page that lists how to contact the agencies)

STEP 8 – Update Your Email Address Book

  • Most communication from WSU will be through email – so please add the domain "@wichita.edu" as a safe sender, so our emails won’t get lost in a junk mail or spam folder. 
  • We will email you when we process your application, and to update you on your status once we’ve reviewed your application materials.

STEP 9 – Send Your Official Transcripts

  • If you uploaded copies of your transcripts and are accepted for admission, you will need to submit your official transcripts.  Follow the link for details.

Applicants either on a visa, or requiring a student visa, even if currently residing in the USA, will be considered International Applicants.  More information on International application requirements for Graduate School can be found on the International Application Information page.
