ANNUAL AWARDS

Application Deadline for the 2017-2018 academic year is April 3rd, 2017.  Student cannot be a spring or summer graduate, and must be enrolled as a degree bound student in Fall 2017 when award is paid.

In order to apply for the awards listed below you will need to apply online, submit an application letter, and submit a letter of support from a faculty member. The Delano Maggard Jr, Research Grant requires additional documentation to be uploaded (see below).

Application letters should address the criteria listed below:
• how eligibility requirements are met
• how award will be used to further your education
• educational goals

If you are applying for more than one award make sure that you address the eligibility requirements of each one in your letter.

The application deadline for Fall 2017 has passed.  We will begin accepting applications for Fall 2018 during the Spring 2018 semester.

Camien Fellowship: To be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, be enrolled in either full-time or part-time, in the social sciences, foreign languages, or education. Typical award is for $400-$500. The fellowship renews annually with satisfactory academic progress and with this may not be available every year to new students.  NOT Availalble for AY 2017-18

Cord Fellowship: To be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, be enrolled either full-time or part-time, and demonstrate financial need. Typical award is for $650.

Donald D. Sbarra Endowed Fellowship: To be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, be enrolled full-time, have at least a 3.2 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Typical award is for $700.

Stettheimer Endowed Fellowship: To be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, have completed nine graduate credit hours, and be enrolled either full-time (part time is permissible if working on terminal activity). Preference is given to students who exhibit exceptional ability and potential. Typical award is $2500 (awarded over the fall & spring semester).  The fellowship renews annually with satisfactory academic progress and with this may not be available every year to new students. Available for AY 2017-2018.

Tilford Fellowship: To be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, be enrolled full-time, and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to minority students who are U.S. citizens. Typical award is for $700.

Delano Maggard Jr, Research Grant: To be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, be enrolled either full-time or part-time, have completed nine graduate credit hours, and demonstrate financial need. Typical award is for $500 - $1,000. This award entails the following additional criteria: (1) student must submit a budget for the research project (2) if the proposed research involves human or animal subjects, a copy of the approval from the WSU institutional Review Board or Animal Care and Use committee should be included, and (3) the letter of faculty support should verify the information about the research project that is given in the application and the budget.

FACULTY NOMINATED AWARDS

Please note that there will be no Outstanding Thesis or Outstanding Dissertation award beginning in 2017. The Graduate School hopes to implement a new award in the near future to replace that category.

PART-TIME STUDENT AWARD

Educational Opportunity Fund Fall/Spring ApplicationTo be eligible, a student must be admitted to a graduate degree program in good standing, be enrolled part-time (3 to 8 graduate hours). Demonstrate financial need, and cannot hold paid employment at WSU. Awards are available for up to $700. Deadline is the last Monday in June for Fall, and the first Monday in October for Spring awards.
