Fall Semester

New Member Greek Academy
Each semester Fraternity and Sorority Life offers an introductory program to new members of our Greek community. The aim is to educate them on university policies and procedures as well as expectations placed upon them as members of the Greek community. The program is also an opportunity to have an all-Greek experience and meet individuals from every Greek council.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is an international men's march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Each fall fraternity men from across campus march for the rights and protection of all people and pledge against these actions. This program is done in collaboration with the Wichita Sexual Assault Center and the Student Activities Council.

Women’s Build- Habitat for Humanity
Every fall members of the WSU sorority community come together to participate in the Wichita Women’s Build Week. This Habitat for Humanity build asks women to devote at least one day to the effort to eliminate poverty housing.  The Panhellenic Council has selected Habitat for Humanity as its annual philanthropy and is committed to supporting this initiative philanthropically each year.

Greek Retreat
Held every fall, Greek Retreat provides an opportunity for members of all chapters to come together to create a community, develop leadership skills and experience a weekend of brotherhood and sisterhood. Built on the Fraternity and Sorority Life values, the program seeks to create Greek Unity through intentional efforts to develop collaborations between organizations and councils.

Shocktoberfest
Shocktoberfest is Wichita State’s annual fall celebration of Shocker spirit and pride. Shocktoberfest is a series of events that occur over the span of a week in which students and student groups can compete for points to be the winners of Shocktoberfest as well as to celebrate Shocker spirit. Greek organizations have a strong history of both participating and excelling in the competitions.

Greek Awards
Each year Wichita State University recognizes the accomplishments and successes of Fraternity and Sorority Life with the annual Greek Awards program. Awards are given for outstanding individual and organizational efforts that exemplify the ideals of their chapters and the entire community.

Kallistei
Kallistei is an overnight wellness retreat for women from all WSU sororities. Kallistei empowers sorority women through facilitated conversations on self-actualization and self-confidence in order to provide women with a healthier view of their holistic self.

Hippodrome
Wichita State University has many fine traditions but most pale in comparison to the rich history of Hippodrome. This event has endured the test of time and remains one of the oldest campus traditions in the nation. Hippodrome first appeared in 1928 where students and organizations were invited to enter a stunt competition for a ten dollar prize. Today, students participate in skit competitions and a variety show, both of which showcase the many talents our students have on campus.

Greek Week
Greek Week returns in 2015! This is a week in which Fraternity & Sorority Life is highlighted on campus. The week features many events being hoseted by chapters and councils, increased marketing around campus to highten visibility and tabling to promote the good work our chapters do with their philanthropies. There are events specifically geared towards our chapter members in order to promote unity, but most events are open to the campus and students, faculty and staff are encourage to attend, support and learn more about the amazing work accomplished by our Fraternity & Sorority Life students. Midwest Step Show: Shock the Yard
The annual Midwest Step Show has become a standing tradition in the Wichita State University Fraternity and Sorority Life community. Teams from Kansas and surrounding states show their pride and heritage through sensational stepping and choreography.

All Greek Neighborhood Clean-Up
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) All Greek Neighborhood Clean-Up started as a way to form to bonds with our neighbors in the Northeast Heights Neighborhood Association. It has turned into a Greek tradition of service and unity. Fraternity and Sorority Life recognizes the power of a helping hand and strives to coordinate the needs of the community with Wichita State University students, faculty and staff who are interested in volunteering.

Greek Discovery Day
Each spring WSU Fraternity and Sorority Life welcomes graduating seniors to participate in Greek Discovery Day. This is an opportunity to meet and mingle with current WSU Greeks and learn more about the programs and efforts of our community. The day always includes a presentation on Fraternity and Sorority Life and participation in a WSU sports event.

Play for Parkinson’s
Each spring the New Member Greek Council hosts a kickball tournament called Play for Parkinson's. The tournament will take place at the Fairmount Park and seeks to increase the Greek outreach into the community. The day is punctuated by exciting games, food and music all while benefitting Parkinson's Disease Awareness!
