Emory Lindquist Honors Program

What is the Emory Lindquist Honors Program? Honors is designed for students who bring unusually strong academic backgrounds to the University. It offers a curriculum of small, challenging classes and sponsors many extra-curricular activities that enrich the University experience. The Honors Program, at Wichita State, was founded in 1957, and in 1978 the program was named after Emory Lindquist, the 8th President of Wichita State University and long time supporter of the Honors Program.

Today, the Honors Program offers freshman/sophomore seminars, lower division regular classes, honors colloquia, and honors upper division sections of regular classes. Students can also choose to do independent study projects. The Honors Program also offers a Senior Project, which is an opportunity for students to earn special honors recognition in a student's academic major. Enrichment activities include lectures, field trips, social and recreational programs, and participation at national and regional honors conferences.

The expanded Honors Center offers students a comfortable lounge, a computer lab, a seminar room, as well as housing program offices. The Emory Lindquist Honors Program is an active member of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) and the Great Plains Regional Honors Council (GPHC).

William L. Vanderburgh, Ph.D., is the Interim Director of the Honors Program

Patrice is the Honors Program Administrative Specialist.
