Cancelling Your Housing Contract

New Students

We understand that sometimes your plans change and you need to cancel your housing contract.  In order to cancel your contract prior to moving into your campus space, you are required to complete the contract cancellation form located in the Campus Housing section of myWSU. Please be aware that the $75 application fee is non-refundable and is not credited after a cancellation of any type. All cancellations must be submitted online through myWSU. Requests by phone to cancel a contract are not considered a valid cancellation and will not be accepted.

Current Residents

Current campus housing residents are required to to meet with their Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) to finalize their cancellation request. Residents can access the contract cancellation form in the Campus Housing section of myWSU. Additional information might be required to cancel any housing contract. All cancellations must be submitted online through myWSU. Requests by phone to cancel a contract are not considered a valid cancellation and will not be accepted.

Academic Year Housing Contract

Residents who have withdrawn from their classes at Wichita State University:
For residents who are not attending Wichita State University, the following cancellation fees would be applied based on the date the resident completes the online contract cancellation form through their myWSU student portal.  Even in the case that the resident has notified other campus offices that they will not be attending the university, it is the sole responsibility of the resident to complete the online contract cancellation form in regards to their housing contract.

Prior to June 1 (December 1 for Spring-only applicants):  No charge, prepayment is refunded
June 2- August 1 (Academic Year Applicants):   $200
After August 1 (December 1 for Spring-only applicants):  $500+room & board to date of move-out/administrative cancellation date

Residents who have cancelled their contract and are still enrolled at Wichita State University:
For residents who have cancelled their housing contract, but still attend Wichita State University, the following cancellation fees would be applied based on the date the resident completes the online contract cancellation and move out of their assigned space (residents must give Housing and Residence Life thirty (30) days’ notice prior to moving out and are responsible for room and board charges through the day they vacate their assigned space in addition to any cancellation fees described below):


Prior to June 1:  No charge, prepayment is refunded
June 2- August 1 (Academic Year Applicants):  $200
August 2- August 15 (Contract Start Date):  $900
August 15- August 30:  $2500
September 1- September 30:  $2250
October 1- October 31:  $2000
November 1- November 30:  $1750
December 1- December 15:  $1500
December 15- January 15:  $1250
January 15- January 31:  $1000
February 1- February 28:  $750
March 1- March 30:  $500
April 1- May 14 (Contract End Date):  Contract Balance

 

Spring-only Housing Contract

  • This includes new students who contract for a spring-only housing contract and excludes anyone in an academic year housing contract.
  • Before December 1: Contract is cancelled with no fees
  • December 1 to January 1: Charged a $275 cancellation fee and loss of the $200 pre-payment
  • After January 1: Charged the $275 cancellation and up to 50% of the meals and rent costs

Summer Contract

  • Before May 1: Contract is cancelled with no fees
  • May 1 to June 1: Charged a $275 cancellation fee
  • After June 1: Charged the $275 cancellation and 50% of the meals and rent costs
