The employee must notify employer of the need for taking Family and Medical Leave. (Employee's immediate Supervisor or the Office of Human Resources FMLA representative.)
Who is Eligible?
Employees who have 12 months of University/State service and who have worked 1,250 hours in the immediate previous 12 months.
When Can You Use FMLA?
Total Time Allowed for FMLA:
The total of all time off (unpaid/paid) for FMLA leaves cannot exceed 12 workweeks during any 12-month period. Wichita State University utilizes the "rolling year" for calculating the 12-month period for Family and Medical Leave eligibility. This method calculates eligible FMLA leave in a 12-month period measured backward from the date of the first day of FMLA leave.
