The following dates have been established as holidays for all offices of Wichita State University for January 1, 2014 - December 31, 2014.
It is recognized that the functions of certain offices will require some personnel to be on duty during holidays. In those cases, arrangements will be made by the department head or supervisor, and compensatory hours will be granted accordingly.

An employee must be in pay status the entire workday before and the entire workday after the holiday in order to receive holiday credit.
It is the intention of the holiday regulation that all full-time employees who are entitled to holidays receive credit for a holiday, and that partial credit be given to part-time employees who are entitled to holidays in accordance with K.A.R. 1-9-2 and Division of Personnel Services Bulletin 05-03.
*In addition, a discretionary day is again authorized for state employees who have worked for the state for six continuous months, which is for observance of a holiday or other special day during calendar year 2014 (pay periods beginning December 22, 2013 through December 20, 2014). Employees who work a Monday through Friday schedule should plan to use their Discretionary Holiday by December 19, 2014.
**Classes are in session; therefore, classified employees and unclassified non-exempt employees required to work shall be afforded compensatory time or compensation at the rate of one and one-half time for each hour worked. Faculty and unclassified exempt staff who accrue annual leave and are required to work on any listed or special holiday shall be afforded equivalent time off at a later date.
