HUMAN RESOURCES

Advertising

Advertising for a position can impact the depth and quality of your candidate pool.  Advertisement copy for publications must be carefully written as it will serve as the basis for the search and recruitment effort.

PLEASE NOTE:  Advertising open positions outside of the WSU Employment Home Page is not required.

All approved positions with a posting type of EXTERNAL will be placed on the Employment Home page and may be advertised in other external locations, such as the Wichita Eagle, CareerBuilder, etc.  Openings categorized as INTERNAL will be listed on the WSU Internal Job openings page and be advertised in the WSU Today email message.

All costs for advertising are paid by the hiring department.

Human Resources will be glad to assist you with placing ads with the Wichita Eagle and/or CareerBuilder.  All other advertising will be handled by the hiring department.

Requirements for Advertising

When advertising is desired for benefit eligible positions, the destinations for the advertising should be included on the PeopleAdmin Request to Fill (Position Description).  The ad copy to be used should also be included as well.

Federal regulations require that each position description and advertisement contain some statement indicating that the University is an equal employment opportunity employer.  The following statement must be at the bottom of all advertising copy to comply with this requirement.

Wichita State University does not discriminate in its employment practices, educational programs or activities on the basis of age, ancestry, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, national origin, political affiliation, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or status as a veteran.

Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory criminal background check as required by Board of Regents policy.

Advertisement copy MUST read the same wherever it is found, as to qualifications (required/preferred), application materials required, application deadline, status of position, contact person, responsibilities of position, and equal opportunity statement.

Advertising should not be secured until the position is posted on the external WSU website is and ready for applicant application submittal.

Advertising can either provide a minimum framework designed to drive candidates to our web site for additional information, or can provide a very detailed outline of the position requirements.  Issues such as cost, location for advertising, and type of position will determine what type of advertising is utilized.
