What is the SEVIS Fee?
The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires people who want F-1 or J-1 visas to pay a one-time SEVIS Fee of US$200 before applying for a visa. This is in addition to the normal visa processing fee of US$131. This new fee helps to pay for SEVIS (Student and Exchange Information System) that U.S. schools use to make I-20 forms.
How do I pay the SEVIS Fee?
The SEVIS Fee can be paid to the Department of Homeland Securty (DHS) online, by mail with a check or money order, or by Western Union. To pay your SEVIS Fee, you must have:
