Why should students study abroad?
I highly recommend students to study abroad because the experience is completely life changing. While studying abroad you learn so much about yourself, while learning about life and culture in a new place.

Can you provide us with your best travel tip?
My best travel tip would be to pack light. Especially for weekend trips or even week long trips while abroad. Traveling light makes the whole trip less stressful and easier to manage.

What was your favorite place that you visited?
Belfast, Ireland was my favorite place. The people in Belfast were amazing, and the coast was breathtaking. I absolutely loved Ireland.

What advice do you have for other shockers who will study abroad?
My advice for shockers who will study abroad is to get out of your comfort zone and make friends! I went to an optional meeting at my school the first week and I met nearly all my friends for the semester in that meeting. It's very easy to make friends at the beginning and those are the people that will make studying abroad so memorable and amazing.

Why should students study abroad?
To experience a truly different culture, language and environment. To note the similarities, even among the differences. To develop a sense of independence and assurance that you can achieve great things, even if it's just ordering at a restaurant in the native language.

Can you provide us with your best travel tip?
Don't take too much of anything. You can get most of what you need where you are going, and finding it can be part of the adventure.

What was your favorite place that you visited?
Edo Period Museum in Tokyo.

What advice do you have for other shockers who will study abroad?
Go for the full year. It takes time to make good friends. You don't want to leave just as you get to know them. Also know the language before you go. New friends get tired of always playing interpreter pretty quickly.

Why should students study abroad?
At first, I wanted to study abroad to be able to travel the world and see the other side of the world that I have been dreaming about my whole life. I saw some of the most beautiful sceneries but it was the people I traveled with that the made the place even more beautiful with the laughter and memories we made. You learn so much about yourself while studying abroad. I had to conquer some fears and I was challenged on multiple occasions. However, that is the whole experience... learning about other and their culture and who you are. Studying abroad grows you as a person that you never thought was capable.

Can you provide us with your best travel tip?
Step outside your comfort zone... You already flew to the other hemisphere... These were some of the best memories I made by stepping out of my bubble. I conquered my fear of heights and climbed a ruined castle to witness the best sunset of my life.

What was your favorite place that you visited?
Santorini, Greece... I've already started saving up to buy my plane ticket.

What advice do you have for other shockers who will study abroad?
You GOT this. You CAN do it. BREATHE. Get ready for an ADVENTURE. Enjoy every second of it... It goes by fast.

Why should students study abroad?
The people you will meet and experiences you will have will affect you for the rest of your life. It's a global world and doing a study abroad is a great way to experience all it has to offer while also contributing towards a future career.

Can you provide us with your best travel tip?
Always pack at least one change of clothes in your carry-on, you don’t want to be stuck with only what you are wearing if your luggage gets delayed or lost.

What was your favorite place that you visited?
I traveled to Warsaw, Poland with some of my roommates and the city was so full of history and life that it was impossible not to fall in love with it.

What advice do you have for other shockers who will study abroad?
Don't do it if you just want to travel. Do it for the experiences you will have, the people you will meet and for the opportunity to learn about yourself and grow into a person who is forever changed for the better.

Why should students study abroad?
By being in a place with a different culture you get to learn about different perspectives and experience things you can't in the U.S. It really challenges how you view things and makes you grow as a person.

Can you provide us with your best travel tip?
Never be afraid to ask for help. There's always someone that can point you in the right direction. If you're nervous about asking a local, look for a police officer or find a cafe with good wifi.

What was your favorite place that you visited?
The Sahara Desert. Nothing can beat laying on a large sand dune and looking at shooting stars with friends after a good cup of traditional Moroccan mint tea.

What advice do you have for other shockers who will study abroad?
Remember that you're in your host country for a limited amount of time. Enjoy every day and don't let minor setbacks get you down. When you get back to the U.S. you'll realize that it's the small stuff from your host country that you'll miss the most.
