Welcomefest is a two-week series of events at the beginning of each semester that includes entertainers, crafts, and other programming to welcome students back to a new school year.  Events are sponsored by student groups and campus departments. Student Involvement hopes to see you there!

Student Support Services Informational Table

Student Support Services information table - Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program that serves 250 students each year who are first generation students, and/or are from homes that are of limited income. We provide free services such as tutoring, textbook loaning, and academic advisement, along with many other services. We would like to inform as many students as possible of our work and encourage those who believe they might qualify to apply for acceptance into our program.

OneStop is excited to welcome students back for the Spring Semester! We offer students the opportunity to get their student service questions answered 24/7 by phone or internet as well as offering in person service in our office on campus in Jabara Hall, room 122. Pop in to our office on January 21st from 1:00-4:00pm and see what OneStop is all about, receive a yummy treat and giveaway during Welcomefest!

Learn more about Wichita Public Radio’s student group, the Stubblefield Society by visiting us at the RSC from 11-1 pm. Join the group for 89¢ and get a starter kit full of goodies, coupons, and station swag. Plus, you’ll receive a membership card with access to nine area museums, such as Botanica and Exploration Place.

Painting Penguin
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
RSC 142
Tanganyika Wildlife will be presenting a penguin to the Wichita State University Campus. During the event, we will showcase what Tanganyika does to help conserve this endangered species and many others. We will also show how animals can touch the hearts of the public and showcase their artistic abilities.

Gazing at Jupiter and the Moon

Lake Afton Public Observatory, MacArthur Rd. (39th St South) at 247th St West in Lake Afton County Park
For Spring Welcomefest this year at the Lake Afton Public Observatory you will get to look through the big telescope at Jupiter’s cloud bands and its four Galilean moons along with our Moon’s deeply shadowed craters and bright plains then you top it off by observing the immensely distant Uranus.

Movie Night with SAC: Guardians of the Galaxy

Enjoy one of 2014’s highest grossing films Guardians of the Galaxy. Come watch as a group of space criminals work together to stop Ronan the Accuser from destroying the galaxy.

Come join AKPsi for our chili cook-off! Bowls of delicious chili will be served in Clinton Hall. Event open for anyone to stop by and learn more about our organization. Come in out of the cold and enjoy a bowl of hot chili. Suggested donation $2.

Ring in the Spring

The end of winter break means the start of the spring semester.  Get pumped for all those new exciting classes by helping SAC Ring in the Spring!  There will be carnival games and fun provided on the first floor of the RSC to help you take a break from the boring back to school grind.  If you've got 10 minutes-you've got time to help SAC kick off another amazing semester at WSU!

Comedy Magician Omar Covarrubias has a show that is both witty and entertaining. The Great Omar started his career in Los Angeles as a street magician and has since moved on to Las Vegas and has showcased at the Hollywood Laugh Factory, House of Blues, and other notable clubs.
This event is free to students with WSU ID; $5 non-students
