International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of an to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.

Several educational institutions across the United States of America participate in this celebration by organizing various activities across campus and offices.

At Wichita State University, the International Education Office and the International Student Union have been actively celebrating this week every year. Highlights of these celebrations include International Movies, Table Displays of various Countries/Cultures, Appreciation of the contributions of International Faculty/Staff on campus, and an International Dinner.

In 2009, the International Education Week was celebrated November 16-20, 2009. A high point of the celebration was critically well-acclaimed international movies shown to the Wichita Community on campus by the Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA).

The International Education Week will be celebrated on November 15-19, 2012 at RSC – Shocker Square, main hallway and CAC theatre.

The International Student Union (ISU) generally takes leadership in two of the activities of the International Education Week: Around the World at Noon, and International Faculty & Staff Reception.

Around the World at Noon is a unique event where international students coming from diverse backgrounds showcase their countries/cultures by putting colorful and attractive displays at the center of the university: the Rhatigan Student Center Hallway (First Floor).

The International Faculty & Staff Reception is an event where international students appreciate and recognize the contribution of international faculty and staff on campus by organizing a “meet and greet” program, as well as raise issues pertinent to students and staff.

All The World's On Stage is a benefit show to raise funds for Famine and Refugee Relief in the Horn of Africa. It is an evening of international performances filled with entertainment and
education for the WSU community.

Campus offices/organizations such as International Education Office, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Center for Student Leadership have been very cooperative in helping with these events.
