BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) is a national 6-week robotics competition designed to interest middle school and high school students in engineering careers.
For the past 18 years, Kansas BEST has hosted a competition for 25-32 teams. Volunteers are needed to mentor teams as they design and build a robot, complete an engineering notebook, and prepare presentations and displays. Engineers, scientists, technicians, computer specialists, and others with mechanical, writing, organization, or documentation skills are all welcome. Mentors meet with teams (typically once or twice a week) throughout the 6-week preparation period before the competition. Most teams meet in the evenings or on weekends. See a list of the 2017 Kansas BEST teams.
There may be opportunities to mentor some teams via Skype or other video conferencing tool. Please indicate below if you would like to interact with a team in this way.
