Marcia Stevens
Regional Director

Marcia brings over 30 years of management experience and a strong academic background to the KSBDC position. She started as Regional Director for the WSU KSBDC in 1999. During her tenure, the Center expanded from 13 to 23 counties, established two outreach centers to better serve rural areas, doubled the number of clients served, and more than quadrupled workshops and workshop attendance. Marcia received recognition as 2006 America’s SBDC State Star and received the 2010 Region VII Small Business Development Center Excellence & Innovation Award.

Previously, Marcia directed several programs and departments at universities in Texas and Kansas. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Kansas, holds an Ed.S. degree in Educational Administration from Wichita State University, and holds B.S. and M.A. degrees in English from Ball State University. She is a certified FastTrac Administrator and FastTrac Facilitator. Marcia also leads the Wichita Area Small Business Education Consortium, a group comprised of over 20 area organizations which provide support services to small businesses.

Alan Badgley
Assistant Director

{SIDEBAR CONTENT GOES HERE}AlAlan Badgley joined the WSU KSBDC team in 2007 and serves as Assistant Director. Alan's areas of expertise include financial analysis, strategic planning, and sales. Alan earned certification from the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional. He created a strategic planning template and process for the KSBDC, which he used successfully with 19 composite technology companies as a part of a Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant. He also worked as a sales manager for multiple companies and developed sales team training for use with KSBDC clients.

Alan understands entrepreneurs, because he is an entrepreneur. His ownerships include Global Habitat Solutions, LLC, a real estate development company concentrating on a project in Abuja, Nigeria; oil lease holdings concentrating in heavy crude oil with specific proprietary processes; and Dove Communications, a satellite systems company. He also provided contract business consulting for Altura Group and for the Dallas Strategy Group. Alan earned his B.A. degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas and his M.B.A. from Dallas Baptist University.

Elaine Hanna

Elaine joined the WSU KSBDC as a part-time Consultant in 2013 after retiring from the MidAmerica Manufacturing Technology Center (MAMTC), where she served for 23 years. Her certifications include Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Examiner, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Business Advisor, Six Sigma Green Belt, and Innovation Engineering Black Belt. She currently serves as Program Chair for the Wichita Manufacturers Association.

Elaine served for 20 years as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. She earned a Ph.D. from Kansas State University in Adult and Continuing Education. She also holds a M.S. in Nursing Administration from Kansas State University and a B.S. in Nursing from San Diego State University.

Steve Nussbaum

Steve started as a part-time Consultant in 2011, when he moved to Wichita after serving as a Consultant with the Texas Tech University Small Business Development Center for five years. Steve knows retail. He worked as Retail Merchandiser for Bass Pro Shops Corporate Headquarters, as an Operations Director for Bed, Bath, & Beyond, as Area Sales Manager for Foleys, and as General Manager for McClurkans Department Stores.

Steve launched his own business in 2012, opening Charley's Philly Steak in Town East Mall in Wichita. His clients benefit from his expertise with restaurants and franchise businesses. Steve holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Texas Tech University.

Karen Loyd

Karen Loyd started with the WSU KSBDC in 2000 and welcomes clients to the WSU KSBDC as Administrative Specialist. She assists clients by explaining services, scheduling appointments, and overseeing workshop registrations. Prior to joining the KSBDC team, Karen earned her Administrative Assistant Certificate from Wichita Business College and worked as an administrative assistant for several area companies. Karen enjoys talking with new and returning clients and hearing success stories.

Jason Cole

Jason started as the Consultant for the Cowley College KSBDC Outreach Center in 2012. Clients seeking loans find themselves in good hands, because Jason served as an Assistant Vice President for Home National Bank in Arkansas City. As a co-owner of Centaur Solutions, a company specializing in employee assessment, Jason developed a passion for creating high-performing workforces. He helps KSBDC clients identify and solve employee issues that are constraining sales, operations efficiencies and profits.

Jason also served as Adjunct Instructor with the Business & Industry Training branch of Cowley College and taught in the Wellington school system. Jason holds a B.S. in Business Administration from LeTourneau University and a M.S. in Business Education from Emporia State University.

Linda Sutton
Consultant
North Central KSBDC Outreach Center

Linda grew up in an entrepreneur family where her parents ran a family farm, aerial spraying business, and used car dealership. After earning her B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University and her M.B.A. from the University of Denver, she joined corporate America. First serving as Financial Analyst and Programmer for Johns Manville, she soon transferred to sister company Riverwood International. As International Financial Analyst for Riverwood, she traveled extensively in Europe and Asia/Pacific to assist with the acquisition of 33 entities and to coordinate their financial reporting. In the 90s, Linda served as Controller for Texas based KTEN television station, Cedar Mills Marina, and Grayson Business Computers. She also started LRS Consulting to provide services to small businesses.

In 2003, Linda returned home to Chester, Nebraska and accepted the Consultant position for the new North Central KSBDC Outreach Center serving 11 counties. Her Outreach Center was named one of America's 10 most helpful SBDCs in 2011. Linda also received recognition as 2007 SBA Women in Business Champion and 2009 America’s SBDC State Star. In 2014, Linda completed the certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts to earn the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA).
