The WSU KSBDC Program

The mission of the KSBDC is to increase economic prosperity in Kansas by helping entrepreneurs and small business owners start and grow their businesses through professional consulting, training and resources.

The KSBDC network helps small businesses compete and prosper in today's highly competitive global economy. Eight regional and two outreach centers combine the resources of professional staff, the state's best educational institutions, the private sector, and government to provide high quality, one-to-one, business management consulting, education programs, and practical information that enables small businesses to develop and thrive.

Personnel

The WSU KSBDC is staffed by trained professionals with the knowledge and experience needed to provide expert counseling and training. They provide assistance in addressing the myriad of problems inherent in the start up phase and operations of small businesses.

KSBDC Services

Consulting. The WSU KSBDC provides free, individual consulting designed to find practical solutions to business problems. Our role is one of education and guidance. A representative sample of these services includes:

  • Free and confidential counseling
  • Identification of sources of capital and financing
  • Business plan assistance
  • Review of inventory control procedures
  • Financial projection development
  • Analysis of product costs and pricing
  • Cash flow analysis
  • Market research assistance
  • Marketing plan development
  • Review of advertising strategies
  • Human resource activity assessment

Education. Courses, seminars and conferences are conducted throughout the state at locations convenient to the small business community. Programs teach basic business skills as well as more advanced and specific business management. Topics include:

  • Low and No Cost Marketing Ideas
  • Selling Across Cultures
  • Choosing a Business Legal Structure
  • Winning Government Contracts
  • Business Contract Basics
  • State Taxes

Our Clients

Any existing small business firm or individual interested in starting a business may receive assistance from the KSBDC. Consulting services are free! Workshops are free or offered for an affordable rate to cover expenses.

Office Hours and Location

The WSU KSBDC office is located on the SE corner of 29th Street and Oliver in the WSU Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Contact us to schedule an appointment at (316) 978-3193 or at ksbdc@wichita.edu.
