Quick Start Business Planning
Using a simple narrative template and a simple cash flow template, you will learn how to develop the key elements of your business plan. You will be able to use the business plan you develop with these templates as a basis for your final business plan.

State Tax Workshop
As a small business owner, you know you need to pay taxes. But where do you start? What do you really need to do? Experts from the Kansas Department of Revenue will give you the basics in this workshop. Topics covered will include sales tax, withholding tax, and record keeping. You will be shown what forms you need to file and how to fill them out.

State Tax Workshop for Contractors
Do you provide plumbing, carpentry, electrical, roofing, heating/air conditioning, or related services? This workshop is devoted exclusively to sales tax issues for contractors, subcontractors and repairmen. Learn how sales tax applies to materials and labor, Project Exemption Certificates, sales tax returns, billing, and related issues.

Pre-Planning for Writing SBIR Proposals
New DoD SBIR topics are released on April 20 at https://sbir.defensebusiness.org. Join this interactive session and learn how to evaluate whether a solicitation is a good fit for your company. Learn what your next steps should be if you find a good fit. General principles will also apply to non-DoD SBIR proposals.

Kansas Department of Labor: Understanding Regulations
KDOL will present an overview of unemployment tax requirements including: Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax Liabilities, Process to Apply for a UI Tax Account, Steps for Filing Tax Returns, New Hire Information, State Information Data Exchange System, and clarification of the difference in classifying a worker as an employee or independent contactor.

Federal Contracting and Woman-Owned Small Business Set-Asides
The Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract program authorizes contracting officers to set aside certain federal contracts for eligible WOSBs. Teri Taylor with the SBA will familiarize you with the program definitions, processes and requirements necessary to participate in the federal marketplace as a WOSB program prime contractor.

Is the 8(a) Program Right for You?
The 8(a)/BD Program is a nine-year certification program for socially and economically disadvantaged companies with some benefits in the Federal Contracting arena. In addition to development support, Federal Agencies are able to set-aside certain contracts for 8(a) certified companies on either a sole source or competitive level. This presentation offers a general overview of processes, requirements, and benefits.

All Small Mentor Protégé Program for Federal Contracting
The SBA’s all inclusive “All Small Mentor Protégé Program” assists small businesses in accessing Federal contracts. With an approved agreement, the small business can learn from an experienced government contractor. The type of assistance is based upon the individual needs of the small business. In addition, mentors and protégés can compete for Federal contracts through the use of joint ventures. Joint ventures qualify for set-aside contracts that the small business is eligible for, including contracts set aside for veteran-owned, women-owned, and HUBZone businesses.
