GUIDELINE AND AWARDING INFORMATION

Changes occur regularly and all awards are subject to and based on availability of funds.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING GUIDELINES:

  • Scholarships are awards for undergraduate students;Fellowships are awards for graduate students.
  • Full time and part time enrollment, per semester, are defined as follows:
    • Undergraduate: full time=12 or more credit hours; part time=6-11 credit hours; less than part time=1-5 credit hours
    • Graduate: full time=9 or more credit hours; part-time=5-8 credit hours; less than part time =1-4 credit hours
  • Scholarships, fellowships and departments requiring a letter(s) of recommendation will be indicated with two asterisks (**).
  • Awards will be split between the fall and spring semesters (unless otherwise indicated) and will be disbursed, pending correct enrollment, during fee payment each semester.
  • Applicants will be considered for scholarships or fellowships based on their declared major(s) or minor(s).
  • All awards and any possible renewals will be based on satisfactory academic progress, as determined by individual guidelines, the university, and the appropriate scholarship committee.
  • All recipients must be enrolled at Wichita State University, in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, during the semester or academic year for which the award is made.

**General LAS Scholarships 

Awards for general scholarships and fellowships are made regardless of major unless otherwise specified in the guidelines.

Applicants should submit at least one (1) letter of recommendation with their application.

The department scholarship committee prefers applicants with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Applicants should submit three (3) letters of recommendation with their application.

Applicants should submit at least one (1) letter of recommendation with their application.

 

**Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures

Applicants should submit two (2) letters of recommendation with their application.
