APPLICATION INFORMATION

After submitting the 2010-2011 Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Scholarship/Fellowship Application, students will be considered for all scholarships or fellowships offered through LAS for which they meet all of the guidelines. The PRIORITY DEADLINE to submit an application is FEBRUARY 1, 2010 . (See "Re-award Process" at the bottom of this page for more information on applications submitted after February 1st.)

CURRENT STUDENTS should submit their application through Blackboard .   A special group titled "LAS.ORG: LAS Scholarships" can be found in your list of courses.  New students may submit their application using the instructions below or through Blackboard, if they choose.  If you will be a new student and wish to apply for LAS scholarships using Blackboard, please contact the LAS Scholarship Coordinator at 316-978-6659 or candice.weathers@wichita.edu.

Applications will be distributed to the appropriate department committees by the LAS Scholarship Coordinator. Only one application per student should be submitted each academic year. NOTE: All information should be filled out on the application form, not attached separately; only letters of recommendation should be separate.

How to Submit an Application:

• Save a copy to your computer, in an easy-to-find location.
• Fill out the application as completely as possible. BE SURE TO SAVE OFTEN!
• Return your completed application to the LAS Dean’s Office via:

  • Email to candice.weathers@wichita.edu. The LAS Dean’s Office strongly advises caution when sending personal information through email. While this is not the method we would recommend, applications submitted via email will still be accepted.

Letter(s) of Recommendation

In general, letters of recommendation are not required to complete an application; however, all applicants are encouraged to include at least one (1) letter of recommendation with their application. In some cases, scholarship guidelines or a specific department may require one or more letters of recommendation (see Guideline Information for more details). Letters of recommendation should come from individuals who know you and your academic work well, preferably from an instructor. All letters must be submitted on time with your application.    Be sure to give your letter writer(s) plenty of notice.

Letters may be submitted via:

1. Email - From the letter author to candice.weathers@wichita.edu. The subject line must contain the applicant's name.

3. *Hand delivery to the LAS Dean's Office, Lindquist Hall 200.

* Mailed or hand-delivered letters must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the author's signature at the envelope seal.

Re-award process

Scholarships are re-awarded when a recipient declines or is no longer eligible per guidelines. The priority deadline to submit an application is February 1st. Applications submitted after this date will ONLY be considered in the event that a scholarship or fellowship must be re-awarded.
