History:
Ahlberg Hall was named for President Clark and his wife Rowena Ahlberg. Its location, close to a major city street, was dictated by the fact that when planned, the building was intended to house both the new WSU College of Health Related Professions and the Wichita branch of the University of Kansas School of Medicine(which was then a cooperative venture with WSU). Before the building was completed in 1980, the KU School of Medicine severed its relationship with WSU and located elsewhere. The present College of Health Professions, housed in Ahlberg Hall, includes the programs in health services organization and policy, medical technology, nursing, dental hygiene, and physician assistant, associate degree programs in dental hygiene, physical therapy, and mobile intensive care technician.
