History:

Tennis has been popular at WSU for more than a century. In 1902, the first Fairmount College yearbook related the story of students and faculty laboring to build courts at 16^th and Fairmount, near Rugby Hall and Holyoke Cottage residents halls for men and women. Sometime after that, Fairmount College constructed courts north of 17^th street and west of the Fairmount entrance to the campus. Tennis courts have remained on this site to the present day.

In 1993, following a gift from the Coleman family in memory of Sheldon Coleman Sr., the site was converted into Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex which features eight courts with spectator seating and a club house with locker facilities, office, and a snack bar.
