History:
McKinley Hall was originally constructed in 1928 to house the Science Departments for the university. The building was originally referred to as Science Hall. In 1964, the Board of Regents unanimously adopted a resolution to change the name to Lloyd McKinley Science Hall. Lloyd McKinley was a long time chemistry department chair from 1927-1960. Additions to the north and south ends of the building in 1966 and 1968 were completed. McKinley Hall was renovated in 2000 and rededicated in September 2001. The building, home to WSU's Chemistry department, houses a 2,600 square foot chemistry library, thirteen classrooms, fifteen research laboratories, three general chemistry and teaching labs, two organic chemistry labs, one biochemistry lab, an analytic/inorganic chemistry lab, a physical chemistry lab and an undergraduate instrumentation/teaching lab.
