History:

The Media Resources Center had its beginning as Audio-Visual Services in the basement of Ablah Library, the only portion of the building that was finished in 1962. At that time, it provided film and slide support for classroom presentations. When public television arrived in Wichita, Channel 13 was started. A studio was added, although the low ceilings in the basement were less than satisfactory for television production. When the additions were added to Ablah in the 1980s, the east addition was specifically designed for the new Media Resources Center which continued to provide television, graphic design, and classroom media services. The University radio station, KMUW, is also a part of the Media Resources Center but is located in Blake Hall.
