Memorial 70 Display Case at Koch Arena

On Oct. 2, 1970, Wichita State University and the community were united through tragedy when one of two planes en route to a game with Utah State University in Logan, Utah, crashed near Silver Plume, Colo.

A display case dedicated to 31 WSU football players, administrators and supporters who died from injuries in a plane crash on Oct. 2, 1970, was installed on the Koch Arena concourse in September 2006.

The idea for the permanent display case emerged from a display put together for the 35th anniversary observance. The sculpture, Memorial '70, was dedicated Nov. 28, 1971.
