All on the Wichita State University Campus
On February 10, 2007, the Colleges of Engineering and Education at Wichita State University hosted the Seventh Annual WSU LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics Challenge. This event provides young students with the opportunity for practical application and exhibition of math, science, programming, and engineering skills, as well as promoting teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. Teams of fourth through eighth grade students from across the state of Kansas experienced the opportunity to complete Mission Challenges designed by Shocker Engineers, and demonstrate what they have learned to professional engineers and educators in oral presentations, table displays, and notebooks. Sportsmanship and spirit will be judged throughout the day to promote collaboration and teamwork.
New NXT Class Announced! At this year’s Challenge, NXT teams competed at both the Apprentice and Professional levels. The courses were the same as the courses for the RCX, but there was two different challenges on each course – RCXs will compete against other RCXs – and NXTs will compete against other NXTs. There will be trophies for both. The number of NXT trophies will depend on the number of NXTs that compete. Teams must specify whether you will be competing with an RCX or an NXT at the time you register. Each team must be a complete and separate team (separate notebook/table displays and oral presentations). Students may ONLY participate on one team.
