WSU 2009 Shocker MINDSTORMS Challenge
Missions and Challenges

Missions

Beginner Level teams will compete on Apprentice Missions. These are basic missions designed for entry-level teams that are just getting started. NOTE: First year teams DO NOT have to participate in the Beginner Level. In fact, teams are encouraged to participate in either the Intermediate or Expert Level. The Apprentice Missions are the same each year:

 

Intermediate and Expert Level teams will compete on Professional Missions. Professional Missions are different each year. Professional Missions are designed and built by College of Engineering student groups and undergo a rigorous review by professional engineers to ensure accuracy in measurements, drawings, and presentation.  For the 2009 Shocker MINDSTORMS Challenge, there will be six (6) Professional Missions. Detailed information about these Missions can be found by following the links below.  These Missions will be available on Trial Day, February 7, 2009, for teams to practice:

 

 

Challenges

Table and Notebook Display -- ALL teams participate in the Table and Notebook Display. Each team will be provided a table to place a display and a notebook of drawings, pictures, charts, graphs, etc. that document the process their team took to prepare for the Challenge. One award will be given at each level, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, to the team earning the most points within that level. Points from Table Display and Notebook apply toward the overall awards in each level. High scoring Table Display and Notebook is invited to present at the WSU College of Engineering Open House on May 1st, 2009.

 

Spirit and Sportsmanship -- ALL teams participate in the Spirit and Sportsmanship. One award will be given at each level, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, to the team earning the most points within that level. Points from Spirit and Sportsmanship apply toward the overall awards in each level.

 

Presentation -- Intermediate and Expert Teams will make presentations. One award will be given at each level, Intermediate and Expert, to the team earning the most points within that level. Points from the Presentation apply toward the overall awards in each level.
