InspirAsian

Asian Awareness Week April 22-27

InspirAsian consists of a week-long series of events, dialogues, and workshops put together by several Asian student organizations. The aim of the week is both to increase campus awareness of Asian and Pacific Islander American concerns, and to celebrate the diversity of the cultures and traditions of Asian Americans on campus. Come out and hear Wichita State’s very own Saajan Bhakta speak about his experiences from India, and learn about his non-profit organization PovSolve Inc.

ASC Assembly

7 p.m. Friday, April 25, CAC Theatre

Come out to Asian Student Conference's annual spring Assembly! Join us for a fun-filled evening as we celebrate our great organization's 10 year anniversary! This multicultural variety show will showcase the many talents of ASC members, as well as members of other great WSU organizations. With acts from singing to dancing and a few special throwback performances, everybody will have something to enjoy.

VASANT: Colors of India

4:30 – 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, CAC Theatre

This event 'Vasant' is presented by Indian Student's Association, one of the largest student communities in Wichita State University. The event will include cultural programs which include dances, musical concerts, mimicry and various other things. For more information, contact the Indian Students Association at isa@wichita.edu.

HOLI: Festival of Colors

12 - 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, Heskett Center West Lawn

Holi is an Indian Festival of colors. People try to color each other using water colors and celebrate wildly.  The festival celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring. Every year, thousands of Hindus participate in the festival Holi. Originally, it was a festival that commemorated good harvests and the fertile land. Hindus believe it is a time of enjoying spring's abundant colors and saying farewell to winter. Transgender Training, Topic: Gender Diversity

3 - 5 p.m., Thursday, May 1, Rhatigan Student Center 265

This training will cover de-mystifying the transitioning process, challenges posed here at WSU, myths, misconceptions, and language.  The goal is to clarify the understanding of issues related to gender minority/transgender people.
